ooc: Character survey
Oct. 29th, 2013 01:01 amAgain, this character tends to hop around from different D&D games, but the core stuff remains all the same.
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
As a Warlord, Rue is more expected to be physically fit at all times before being deployed and heading into battle, so his body build is pretty muscular and toned, but not even nearly to hitting at a bulk level like a professional body builder. As for height, he is 6 feet and an inch tall.
2. How old is he?
Currently 29 years old. Still acting like he's 19, but his body is starting to show signs that he is not as young and flexible as he used to be.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
Rue always sticks his chest out like he is proud and full of himself-- and most of the time he is. But he also gives off this aura of confidence and pride, and yet some form of casualness in his movements and actions.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
Well, with his ability scores showing as they are now (26 strength, 16 constitution, and 12 dexterity), Rue here is pretty amazingly strong and could lift things that is probably three or four times his average weight. His health and immunity system is above average, seeing that he'd rarely gets sick or fatigued unless he pushes himself. However, his speed is just slight above the average person's movement and reaction time.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He moves pretty solid and smoothly. And depending if he's trying to show off, he'll be sticking his chest out all proud and egotistical like.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Attractive wise, he is really above average. How he perceives himself, on the other hand, is more of the level of being the most hottest guy ever to exist on Reydala. He's pretty good looking and he knows it! Others... eeeeh, depends on how much they agree with that.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Tanned and a bit of thick skin with all the martial and physical training. He also has some scars here and there on where the chainmail is exposed on his plate mail. (Being stabbed rather than slashed, and all.)
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
A silverish-gray shade of color. It's texture is all natural and fluffed out, meaning it's unkempt for the most part.
9. What color are his eyes?
Green.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
As described already, he doesn't have too much of a buff bulky build, but he does have some muscle growing on him that has him be pretty muscular.
11. What are his chief tension centers?
His shoulders, the back of his neck, and down along his back due to the physical work he puts out.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Depends on if you're talking about when he is in and out of armor. In armor? Like this.
Out of armor: Like this even though a breastplate is still technically armor, but it's the only armor piece.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
It would be pretty awkward if the clothes he wears didn't fit at all! But yes, he does feel rather comfortable in them. Well, except sometimes when wearing the armor and in the heat.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Yeeeeeep. Might as well wear what you got all day erry day and just polish the gear at the start of the next week.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Commanders gonna commando.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
A little deep, but pretty clear. For those who play PSO2 or just familiar with Ryouhei Kimura, think Zeno's voice from Phantasy Star Online 2.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Now that depends! Is it something dramatic and exciting? LOUD. Is it anything else? Regular room voice. And he talks extremely casual. Like it doesn't even matter if you never even met him before, chances are he'll speak to you so familiar like that you might as well had been childhood pals at some point.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Nope.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Common, and Nuln, Riscanan, Kaltian, and Sylvan. (Reydala) / Common, Elvan, Dwarven, Draconic, and Deep Speech. (Regular)
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
He'll switch if the situation calls for it. Otherwise, no not really. Just one or the other if the other person is speaking one language or another.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
If he has to think about his words, then chances are that he knows he has to be diplomatic. But otherwise, he'll just improvise his words right on the fly if he has to.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He can be very eloquent when he has to. But only if he has to. Otherwise, he's pretty much average.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Less book smart and more street smart. And while "smart" isn't really the best way to describe Rue, he's more of a guy that lives through another day by the experiences he had gone through before.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Being a leader in both role and occupation, he improvises on the fly while thinking up of plans to help improve the situation. So mostly he does temporary solutions as the main problem fixer is in the works.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Rue's thought process follows more around the lines like this: YOLO
Seriously. If he's going to do something, he'll might as well find ways to enjoy himself, give it his all, and if anything, go down with a smile on his face. He's only logical when he's trying to think of solutions, but definitely more intuitive for the most part. While he isn't really leaning too heavily on idealistic or practical, he's just more around the lines of "I'm going to do what I want to do, and like hell anyone will stop me."
4. What kind of education has the character had?
Rue had some pretty decent education, but any academics is more or less tied with military tactics and martial law education with the main side of physical training. He may not be a scholar, but he is definitely a soldier through and through.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
If we're talking about knowledge skills, Rue does have a pretty good grasp on the following:
Athletics, Bluff, Diplomacy, Endurance, Heal, History, Intimidate, Nature, Stealth, Religion and Streetwise.
Athletics and Endurance were more on the results of his training regiment ever since he was a recruit. Through nearly endless hours of training and practice, sheer determination, and his own personal toughness that this was the end result.
Bluff, Diplomacy and Intimidate are all mainly for his methods of communication when dealing with people to help... ease certain conversations to his way. Most of the time just talking shit helps. Sometimes actually making a peaceful solution helps. And sometimes you want to say you will bash someone's teeth in to get your point across. All valid methods of communication!
Heal and Nature was both a result of his personal paranoia regarding about things nature related (due to asshole druids), but a surprise result being was that shouting "JUST RUB SOME DIRT ON IT. YOU'RE FINE." and "WALK IT OFF, HOTSHOT." seems to be invigorating enough to the listener somehow became a source of his Inspiring Word power.
History, Stealth, and Religion, however, is primarily about military wars, tactics, and famous leaders and generals to skirmishes and crusades. Again, he isn't much of a scholar, but he knows his shit when it comes to warfare and martial battles.
Streetwise is also a case of the experience thing kicking in, and because you gotta have some common sense around certain parts of cities. Not everyone appreciates a knight walking around town as they used to.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
It really depends on the case here. Normally he's pretty laid-back that can be pretty cheerful. But in the face of druids, or anyone that has wronged him and his family? It's like flipping a switch and seeing a barbarian going through its rage mode only in plate mail!
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Extremely relaxed. He's super casual to anybody he meets and meets again.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
A little bit of both. Mostly react.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight all the time.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
If you can't take a hit, you better take a joke. That being said, his sense of humor is REALLY crude and dirty. He probably does a few pranks himself and laughs at irony... unless its against him. Then that just sucks.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Nope!
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Three major moments in his life, which all of them will be summarized.
First, the kidnapping of his little sister by Valgamoor cultists in their attempt to kidnap people (humans, elves, and many others) to combine them with animals, thus creating a pure shifter race through divine and magical means. His sister, Keilee, was one of the many that was taken for this process. Although Rue had no personal involvement of this event, he had developed an intense hatred to borderline prejudice against all druids in any form. He may not fully remember the event in detail, but he does know that with anything related to nature (i.e. sentient monster trees) and druids were solely responsible for his sister being the way she is and the driven source for him to become an adventurer to slash and burn anything remotely druid like.
Secondly, his eventual change from being a hot-blooded rookie grunt wanting to take on the world that had been forced to spend countless hours upon hours to trying to become stronger with his brute strength. Of course, there had been plenty of botched missions and screw ups along the way, but it was the mistakes he had learned and the countless study of tactics, and beginning to understand what his enemies' thinking process were to help give suggestions to his knight commander. It was this strategic ability, plus his natural care-free attitude that allowed him to easily communicate with other people, is what gave him a good hand at speeding his promotions from being an enlisted soldier to being a high ranking officer! When he had climbed through the ranks from both his martial prowess and his ability to lead others is what made him officially a 'Warlord'.
Thirdly, while he had been in many adventures on both leading and being led while a part of the Nuln Adventurer Guild, he had done quite his fair share on adventuring-- but his primary goal was finding a way to cure his little sister for her to regain her human form. Using what funds he had saved as a soldier, mercenary, and Guild member, he contributed to what he could afford to assist Keilee into what tuition she could afford for her paladin training-- and often trained along side her when swordplay was involved. To him, taking care of family is always important. But along the line of the many years he had been at this, he eventually had a family of his own. A kitsune sorceress, Satsuki Kitsuka, and him had something of a marriage between each other and together they raise a son, Xia. Because of him wanting to take care of all of his family, and doing his best to stick 'em all in one spot, he and Keilee pooled together to help regain their family name to its once former glory-- while Rue was supposed to take lead responsibility as the elder sibling, he passed on that responsibility to Keilee claiming:
"I'd rather lead soldiers who are prepared to give their lives away than to deal with civilians and nobles whom are too ignorant of the world outside of their own personal worlds."
So he serves as his sister's guard captain as Knight-Commander of Castle Vallens, their new home, in Sahere. While he says he retired from the Guild, if he still needs to make some sort of income, he'll gladly take up his sword again.
14. What does he fear?
If you boil it down to one thing? It would be losing. Losing his loved ones, losing a decisive battle, losing everything he had... to lose everything he had fought hard for only to be taken away from his grasp.
Oh, and trees. Fucking druids made him paranoid as shit around them.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
Going home and be a family man. But other than that, it's to enjoy life to its fullest and go out with a bang.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
There is a rumor that he and a De'nan servant that follows him in and out of battle are in some sort of affair. He won't prove or disprove anything, but he certainly doesn't want anyone to think that he doesn't care about his wife, Satsuki, any less than what a devote husband would have for his wife.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
His mom died at giving childbirth to him, his stepmother disappeared ever since Keilee had been found as a shifter, and his dad was a legendary general that had retired to the farmlands in Sahere... so he kinda relates more to his dear ol' dad more than anything. But the old man did eventually pass away, but it was thanks to him that he was given him a letter of recommendation for his attendance to a military training school.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
He has one sibling: His younger sister, Keilee. Their relationship is really close and warm with one another, and there are times that Rue can't help but want to tease Keilee at times just to get her flustered up because thats what older siblings do. He sees it that its his responsibility to protect Keilee if she can't protect herself-- and if she can't, then he'll help her get stronger so she can. So it's kind of like being semi-over protective but at the same time, training her at the school of hard knocks.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
None.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Not really.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
His best friend is a human wizard that goes by the name of Aqua Rahda. They had met originally by Rue being assigned to be an escort to a wizard that was an archaeologist that wanted to study old dwarven ruins, but was rumored to still have traps and monsters lurking about. While the two had butted heads before initially, once the two had fought together side by side, a partnership between adventurers had been made. They tend to fulfill the typical roles you'd expect: One melee and one magic, one with common sense and the other is full of book smarts, and one having a strength of a pack mule while the other is struggling with a carrying anything over 60 pounds.
6. Does he have other close friends?
He does! The half-elf Bard, Islain Re'Ole. The Rogue sisters, Gabriel and Helen Haily. The blind Monk, Hongou Ishtar. The seductive Psion, Raquel Beliago. And the mute Spellsword, "Shy Guy".
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Rue would like to think he makes friends easily by being pretty casual and open to people, but there are also people that are probably rubbed the wrong way because of his lack of manners and proper etiquette for the most part.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family, through and through.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once? Married, and married once!
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
... its complicated!
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
His first crush would prooooobably be his drill instructor, Avril. But his latest one is his current wife.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
Gotta have fun, doesn't mind that he travels a lot, MUST accept the fact that he priorities his family above all else, and doesn't bat an eye when he makes rude comments about trees. Other than that, she just gotta be cute and mature for his taste.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
He has one son, Xia.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
During the course of his career, he probably has made PLENTY of enemies and rivals. He just doesn't remember all of their names.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
0.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
Sex is all part of the wild ride on lust and relationships. If you were to ask him in his younger days, he'd say as long as there are no relationship strings attached, casual sex isn't such a bad thing. Now? He'd still say the same thing, but just don't stick your dick in crazy. Despite the popular belief, the crazier in the head does NOT equal to being the crazier in the bed.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
[AFTERDARK INFO]
I'll get back to this later. But generally anything that isn't bathroom related kinks, blood play, and vore is a huge turn off. Also being a massive doucher is a boner kill.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
Western: Aries
Eastern: The Tiger
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
In a sense, Rue is religious but that is mostly to pay tribute to his goddess, Triana, as her follower. But over all, he's not really too overzealous about it. Just give your prayers and do what you can to whomever you believe. After that, then it's just all up to you on what to do.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
Rue has his own personal moral code and ethics, yes. Mostly because if there is a conflict at hand that is personal, then it STAYS personal. Don't bring family or friends involved. And if you do, then things will get VERY messy. Other than that, he's exactly what you'd expect out of a "Hero" with the Chaotic Good alignment.
I do what I want. :y
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
rivetingtalebrother.parchmentcanvas
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
FUCKING. DRUIDS. BURN THEM. SKIN THEM ALIVE. WIPE THEM OUT FROM ALL EXISTENCE BEFORE ANOTHER VALGAMOOR KIDNAPPING SPREE HITS AGAIN.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Rue's financial status would place him as middle-high class mainly due to his retirement pay in the service and now technically under employment of his little sister. Still, the guy would prefer to live in the barracks with the rest of the soldiers than a plush room if given the choice, but the little sister wouldn't allow that.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
While growing up, Rue has been more used to the lower-middle class of treatment in the social group, but rather than as a commoner, he was more soldier. And of course time had passed since he was a wee lad swinging wooden swords, to being a fresh recruit, and now to being the top brass Warlord that he is. Over time, he has climbed the social ranks that was equivalent to his military rank. But in the end, he preferred the company of soldiers and civilians of his original 'caste' than to deal with the higher blue bloods. But if his presence is required for formalities, he'll go.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
His home at the moment is both a castle that his little sister rules over that was originally intended to be his. But as mentioned earlier, he just tossed all that responsibility to her. So he's just around as Knight-Commander of the guard unit of the castle to make it feel someone okay for him to bum around. It is a rather sturdy castle that is constantly in development given the collective pool of his income from retirement and Keilee's income from being a member of the Nuln's Adventurers Guild.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Food. Liquor. Gambling.Women. A guy's gotta live life a little, you know?
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
Officially? He's a guard captain of Castle Vallens that his sister owns. But on the side, he works as a mercenary and the occasional aid for the Nuln Adventurers Guild. Just being general sword for hire that likes to travel.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Rue takes a huge interest into sword collecting! Mostly as souvenirs, whether they are wooden or metal.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
To summarize it in a pic? This.

Food. Liquor. Gambling.
This.
